To log meals while using Apple Health you need to connect an Apple Health compatible meal tracker. KrowdFit does not provide a way to track meals directly, we rely on our integrated partners to perform this task. With Apple, we have success with MyFitnessPal and LoseIT meal trackers.

We have had success with MyFitnessPal and Fooducate sending data into Apple Health. My Plate which has been recommended previously does not attribute the meal tag and so doesn't award entries.
Quick update here, that apparently Fooducate is not sending meals data into Apple Health. Which leaves us with MyFitnessPal as the only option. Unless you use Jawbone UP2 app or the Fitbit app which do not require you to have the corresponding devices.
If anyone else has a meal tracker they are using please let us all know.
