Now that you have joined KrowdFit how do you go about getting all your entries and maximizing your healthy active lifestyle?
The first step is connecting your device, we can get data from a number of different tracker sources. We work directly with Fitbit, Misfit and Garmin Connect. We also have tools to help folks who are not using one of those trackers or are using their Apple or Google phone.
Fitbit is the only integration which can track all of our giveaway sources. With Fitbit you can log meals, track steps, record sleep, record activity minutes and even perform mindfulness.
For all other trackers you will need to connect multiple apps in order to participate in all the giveaways. Fortunately with the KrowdFit Connector app most trackers or apps which can store (write) data to either Google Fit or Apple Health will work with KrowdFit. Below we will highlight the primary integrations:
- Fitbit; (steps, activity, meals, sleep and mindfulness)
Fitbit provides a number of trackers which work with their free Fitbit App. The trackers record steps, activity, sleep, mindfulness and meals. While you don't "need" a Fitbit tracker to use the free Fitbit app it makes it much easier. By connecting your Fitbit account to KrowdFit you can share your data to gain entries into all of our Giveaways.
- Garmin Connect; (steps, activity, and sleep)
Garmin trackers work with the Garmin Connect app and generally record steps, activity and sleep data. By connecting your Garmin Connect account to KrowdFit we will begin getting data for the steps, activity and sleep giveaways. To also participate in meals and mindfulness you will need to also connect another source.
- Misfit; (steps and sleep)
Connecting a Misfit tracker to KrowdFit will allow us to collect steps and sleep data. To participate in the other giveaways you will need to connect additional apps.
- Apple Health; (steps, activity, meals, sleep and mindfulness)
Using Apple Health as your source requires installing and connecting the KrowdFit Connector to your KrowdFit account. Apple Health allows many different devices and apps to work with it. The primary device for Apple Health is the Apple Watch. Using the watch allows for Steps and activity tracking if you don't have a watch the phone will also work to track steps and activity as long as you have it with you while you exercise. To record sleep you will need to include a companion app, (though this is changing with the new sleep app) we currently work with Sleep ++, Sleep Cycle, and Pillow to get sleep data for Apple Health. For meals you will need to give your preferred meal tracker permission to talk to Apple Health, the most common meal trackers for Apple Health are MyFitnessPal and LoseIT. Finally mindfulness will come from apps like Calm, Headspace, or Stop Breathe Think.
- Google Fit; (steps, activity, meals, sleep and mindfulness)
Using Google Fit as your source requires installing and connecting the KrowdFit Connector to your KrowdFit account. Google Fit allows many different apps to work with it. The primary device for Google Fit will be the phone itself, most phones have an accelerometer which will serve to track steps and activity as long as you have the phone on you while you are exercising. To record sleep you will need to include a companion app, we currently work Sleep with Android. For meals you will need to give your preferred meal tracker permission to talk to Google Fit, the most common meal tracker LoseIT though others may work. If you find you have a meal tracker writing to Google Fit but not getting meals data please reach out to support. We know MyFitnessPal does not work. Finally mindfulness will come from apps like Calm, Headspace, or Stop Breathe Think.
